Meet The Speakers
Julius Irving
Julius is the community engagement coordinator at Community Spring. He is a local activist, humanitarian, (r)evolutionist, and modern-day alchemist devoted to the liberation, healing, and elevation of people and communities. He served as a Field Organizer with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, helping secure Amendment 4 which restored voting rights to more than one million returning citizens across Florida. He is also a former fellow at Community Spring. Currently, Julius is a 2026 Represent Justice Ambassador, using his voice and lived experience to challenge mass incarceration and advocate for a more just and humane criminal legal system.
Lindsay Kallman, MPH
Lindsay is the executive director and founder of Community Spring. She is a public health specialist, activist, and social justice organizer with over 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. A third-generation Gainesville native, Lindsay’s deep commitment to her community drivers her work. She has specialized in building sustainable programs that address systemic inequities, particularly those tied to poverty and incarceration. Under her leadership, Community Spring has launched initiatives like a policy fellowship for people impacted by poverty and a guaranteed income program for individuals recently released from prison.
Bob Libal — Guest Speaker
Bob is a nationally recognized civil rights leader and community organizer. He currently works as Senior Campaign Strategist at The Sentencing Project, a research and advocacy nonprofit working towards decarceration and addressing racial disparities in the criminal legal system. He is also the former executive director of Grassroots Leadership. His whole life, Bob has fought for criminal justice and immigration reform. During the webinar, you will have the opportunity to hear from him about how our Community Power Building initiative fits into the national movement.
Robert Stewart — Guest Speaker
Robert is a sociological criminologist and 2022 Emerson Collective Fellow. He studies the social, political, and collateral consequences of criminal legal involvement with an emphasis on the accumulating effects of criminal legal interaction and criminal records on impacted people and communities. As an advocate of public criminology, he believes that communicating our work effectively to policymakers, practitioners, and the public is a fundamental part of scholarship. He served as the founding Director of Research of the Minnesota Justice Research Center, a local nonprofit working to improve the justice system through high-quality and accessible research, policy development, and education.
